The 365 Prophecies Jesus Fulfilled: Prophecy 4

The third Old Testament Prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah is found in Genesis chapter 9:26Genesis 9:26 "And he said: “Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem, And may Canaan be his servant. ay God enlarge Japheth, And may he dwell in the tents of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.”These two verses are little known and rarely taught in the Christian church today. Their importance is beyond mention and the fulfillment of their meaning reaches down through time to our present generation.In Genesis chapter 9, Noah as fallen asleep after drinking too much wine. Laying naked in his tent, Canaan, one of his threes sons, commits a grave sin against his father. Shem and Japheth walk into their father's tent backwards so as to not see his nakedness and cover their father with a blanket.When Noah awakens he pronounces a blessing on Shem that has profound Prophetic meaning. Shem is to be the focus of all Gods future blessing. To the Hebrew reading these two verses, the first thing that they would notice was that this is the first place in the Old Testament where God is referred to as "A Personal Possessive". He is called "The God of Shem…" It was clearly understood by all of the Rabbi's that this verse referred to the fact that from Shem the Messiah would some day come.
